So I did a birthday post for Kurea, my very first OC, and now it's Akemi's birthday!
Akemi is a character that I love to pieces. She began as an Ouran High School Host Club roleplay character, and she was a prankster and a tomboy. She was honestly not a good character at all.
She also had a major crush on Tamaki, who at the time I adored (that seems like so long ago!).
At one point or another, I got the idea that she should be easily embarrassed to the point that her face turned as red as her hair. So she had the potential for a softer side...
At another point or another, I was roleplaying with Brittany who also liked Tamaki best, so we chose our second favorite characters to 'pair them up with'. I chose Takashi Morinozuka.
The two were hardly compatible. He was tall, she was short, he was quiet, she was loud, and honestly they had no chemistry.
Somewhere else along the line, I completely rehauled her character. She became a quiet, shy, and gentle girl, and a little taller.
She was still a bit one dimensional, so she ended up with a really complicated past involving abuse from both her father and her childhood friend/boyfriend that left her completely distrustful of males.
She is very quiet and enjoys nature.
One thing that makes her very different from a lot of Ouran OCs is that she absolutely loves the froofy yellow dress. In fact, if it hadn't been for the uniform, she would have chosen to go to Lobelia, the all girls boarding school that rivals Ouran.
Her job is modeling at her aunt's magazine, Araishii Weeeek. Her mother, Sakura, is the advertisement coordinator for the company, and her aunt owns the whole thing.
One thing that didn't change about Akemi is her bright red hair. However, it has progressively become longer and wilder and wavier and thicker.
It is so fun! I love drawing it.
She is a model and so she is very tall now. She is very suspicious of guys and pretty much avoids them. Well, it's just her luck that the one guy she makes friends with (Hunny, because she thinks he's only a kid) wants her to hang out with his friends, who are a bunch of guys! He promises that they're nice, and Haruhi even tries to put Akemi at ease by letting her know she's a girl too, but Akemi is still very guarded for a long time.
Either by being assigned to do so or just out of his own interest, Mori starts looking out for Akemi, making sure nobody bothers her at school and such. And over a very long period of time, she learns to trust him, even if he is the most scary guy out of all of them. (He's tall, rarely smiles, and hardly talks. It's hard to know what he's thinking.)
Akemi likes gardening a lot and she has a terrible sense of direction. She doesn't enjoy eating that much but when she does it's a tomato and mayonnaise sandwich, or a bit of chocolate. She has a particular fondness for an old abandoned house that she can find her way to even when she can't find her way home, and she absolutely loves weather. It makes her feel alive.
She's almost always changing, too, like any person, I guess. I find out more about her whenever I use her for a story or a roleplay. Out of all the characters I've ever made, she's definitely up there real close to the top.

Characters have depth you guys
I wasn't really putting a lot of thought into it when I decided Loki was among my favorite characters. I mean, I saw The Avengers, thought he was pretty cool despite being a bad guy, and that was that.
I've now watched Thor twice (and a cool cartoon of when Thor and Loki were teenagers they were adorable by the way) and I still don't completely understand Loki. He is a psychologically complex character. You don't see those often. Usually with a character, it's pretty easy to hack into their psyche (does that sound creepy?). X character does Y because of Z. But with Loki, it's not so simple.
It's so hard to tell when he's being sincere. There is always a motive behind his actions but sometimes you can't tell if it's simply mischief or all the emotional confusion he's in. It's so obvious that he wants to be loved and accepted by the people dear to him and yet to admit that they are dear and to accept the love that they already show to him is somehow so hard.
He wants to be treated as an equal to his brother. He wants to be looked up to by others. He wants to please his father. Even after finding out SPOILER BY THE WAY that he was by birth a Frost Giant, he didn't seek the Frost Giants' acceptance. The acceptance he sought and craved was that of the family he considered his own, those that loved him and that he loved.
He saw that his brother was flawed in some ways, not worthy yet to rule and a bit of an airhead. He considered himself the better choice, but he seems blind to the fact that just like Thor, he has shortcomings as well. While Thor acts rashly and seeks out battle (at least in the beginning), Loki does not care enough for the feelings of others and for honesty. While Thor is rash, he is at least true and honest to his feelings.
Loki does have his good points. He is clever, and he thinks things through. These are areas in which his brother is lacking. Loki can see many possibilities and is therefore able to predict how a certain event will turn out (he uses this to his advantage to manipulate people, however). This makes me think he's an INTJ (some people agree with me, others say INTP). THAT WAS KIND OF IRRELEVANT BUT I'M JUST KIND OF HAPPY HE'S THE SAME PERSONALITY TYPE AS ME XDDD
(Except I'm not evil just thought I should point that out lol)
Loki made some bad choices--a lot of them, actually. I still can't figure out why, sometimes. What I see is a confused boy, trying to find where he belongs, and trying to reconcile the side of him that craves the love of his family and his people with the side that enjoys wreaking havoc.
Personally, I think Thor and Loki would make a great team. If they worked together to rule Asgard, with Thor providing the brawn and Loki the brains, they could do incredible things. Of course, they both still have a lot to learn, and they have a great example in Odin. He's pretty darn wise.
Note to Loki: cleverness is not wisdom.
Another thing that intrigues me about this story is this:
Loki and Thor remind me of Jacob and Esau from the Bible.
One is athletic, manly, and hairy, but a bit dumb, the favorite of his father (Though Odin loves both his sons, Loki just feels Thor is more favored). The other is tricky, clever, and makes some pretty bad choices.
The younger, clever brother wants the birthright and the blessing. He buys it for a bowl of soup, he steals it with trickery.
In the story of Jacob and Esau, Jacob ran away for years and in that time God began to make him into a great nation. Yes, Jacob. The tricky one. Not the one we're rooting for.
What?
I've grown up with that story all my life but drawing the parallel to Thor and Loki made me think about it a bit more.
I always knew Jacob would be the father of all Israel so I just rooted for him but.
Wait.
Loki is the bad guy.
I think there is still hope for him.
Anyway, Jacob and Esau had a happy ending. After so many years when they finally met up, Jacob was afraid Esau would kill him. But he didn't.
I see Thor showing real maturity in continuing to love his brother and try to bring him back, both in the end of Thor and in The Avengers. Esau tried to kill Jacob for a long time, but Thor forgave pretty quick.
I know I'm just rambling and drawing a lot of lines and connecting things, but that's what I do.
Loki makes me sad (cry, even) and intrigues me and makes me want to talk some sense into him and hug him and be his friend to help him through all this.
Even though he's not real. -cough-

Freewriting
Here's some writing I did from a wordwar, involving my Naruto character, Kurea, and Rock Lee.
Kurea is copyright of me, and Rock Lee and anything else from Naruto is copyright of Kishimoto and Viz and whoever else.
Kurea did a back handspring and ran right into a brick wall. It was kind of depressing, the way that she slid down it like a busted egg, wet and slimy. Except that she was quite solid, and so was the wall. Consequently, the two surfaces had friction and the side of her face was pretty torn up along with her hands. With her scrapes bleeding, she felt just a bit proud. She ran off to show her battle scars to Rock Lee. Surely he would be impressed! She might even tell him that she got them fighting off a dozen large burly men who attacked a kitten. That should be a good story. She thought about Lee with a kitten. If the kitten licked his face and he giggled and blushed, that would be adorable. Kurea giggled herself as she arrived at his normal training area. There was no one there except the wind, which minded his own business and kicked up a few leaves just to prove that there was no one there to keep them from swirling all over the place. Kurea hung her shoulders dejectedly. She had come all this way! Lee was always training on his time off, so Kurea didn’t know where he could be. The only other thing she ever saw him doing was talking to people and sleeping. She didn’t get to see him sleeping very often, except on multiple day missions, but he was cute when he slept. And then there was the talking. He generally only talked to people about how awesome Guy Sensei was, and then he talked about training when he wasn’t training. Sometimes he even talked about training while he trained. Come to think of it, he didn’t play with kittens very often. Kurea was kind of disappointed. Then she got an idea. Maybe the fact that it was the middle of the night had something to do with why Lee was not out training at this moment.
Kurea stared up at the sky. The stars twinkled and the moon was full, making the clearing almost as bright as day, just colder and bluer.
She spun around a couple times and then just collapsed. Her face hurt. There was no Lee to tell her story to, so now her battle scars just pained her. A tear rolled down her face and she fell asleep right there on the ground.
The next morning, Lee came to train, bright and early, like always. He was a little startled to find Kurea asleep in the middle of the clearing, but he just laughed because it shouldn’t have been so surprising after all. Kurea was always just a little bit different, so he had learned to stop being confused when she did something he didn’t understand. Like sleeping in the clearing. He began training, and soon the rhythmic thumping of his kicks against the large stump woke Kurea up. The thumping and the pain of last night’s events were the first two things to hit her, along with the sun and piece of wood that broke off of the stump, so needless to say, she was a bit irritable.
“What was that for?!” She whined, looking like a mix of sad and angry.
“I am so sorry!” Lee rushed over. “I did not realize that the piece of wood would hit you!”
“Ugh, I feel terrible.” Kurea had forgotten about being upset and started holding her arm. Lee looked down and noticed her hands and the side of her face that were all torn up, but by now they had scabbed over.
“Kurea, what has happened to you?” Genuine concern showed in his eyes, but Kurea was too busy picking at one of the scabs to see it.
“I fought off a wall or something.” Kurea was still groggy and the truth mixed with her fabricated story.
“We had better take care of this.” Lee said, pulling Kurea’s hand away from the scab. “Please do not touch it, it will only get worse.”
“No I’m fine.” Kurea said absentmindedly. “I just wanted to tell you about the ninjas and the kitten.”
“What ninjas? What kitten?”
“The ones I beat up.” Kurea tilted her head to the side.
“I thought you beat up a wall.”
“No, no, the ninjas.”
“And the kitten?”
“No! I didn’t beat up the kitten! It licked your face and you liked it. The kitten I mean. You liked the kitten. I don’t know if you liked its slobber. But kittens don’t really slobber, do they? That’s a dog.” Kurea was just rambling. Her thoughts were a bit disorderly and they were just spilling out all over her lap.
“I do not think you are quite yourself.” Lee said. Kurea was usually kinda loopy, but maybe she had been hallucinating. He hadn’t had a kitten and it hadn’t licked him.
“No, I mean, the bananas.” Kurea tilted her head to the other side.
“You need to come to the hospital.” Lee said, sliding an arm underneath her knees and another behind her neck so that he could carry her properly.
“I’m fine.” Kurea insisted, but she didn’t struggle or try to climb out of his arms. It was kind of nice there, after all.
Lee carried her to the hospital very quickly, and Tsunade immediately stuck Kurwea
Yeah, I know it cuts off. My fifteen minutes ended.
