It's time to talk about the bathroom! ... :D ?

I don't understand why people keep books and magazines in their bathrooms. Like, are you planning to spend half an hour in there? Plus, it's not usually very dry. Poor paper pages.

Do my brothers really have a sudden need to visit the restroom when it's time for chores, or is that just an excuse?

I've heard many stories of people having revelations in the shower. It's happened to me before. The shower is a good place to pray, free of distractions. The only downside is that you've no way to write down these important or brilliant ideas. The very concept of paper or any sort of recording device is entirely averted to water. But maybe that's why the ideas come so freely. You've no iPhone to tap absentmindedly, refreshing twitter or whatever over and over. Your hands are busy sudsing your hair (or just plain old washing it), but your mind is free to wander with your eyes closed.

If someone from a third world country or some undeveloped tribe came to visit, I think the first thing I would show them is the public bathroom. Everything is automated these days. I don't mind too much except I greatly prefer paper towels to air blowing dryers.

Of course, all these random thoughts were just an excuse to brag about my organizing skills/love of cleaning. Read on, and wish you could do the same (and then perhaps do so!).

Using less chemicals means a neater bathroom! I got rid of everything unnecessary from under my sink:
This includes shampoo and acne products/medicines because as I've blogged about at least twice before, I no longer use them. Mouthwash and lotion I never liked. I also finally got rid of those little travel-sized packets of everything (I never use them, except for toothpaste which I recieve twice yearly courtesy of the dentist). I also finally got rid of that bottle with only one ibuprofen left in it that had been under there for ages. And of course, a few things like the manuals for the hair dryer and flat iron that are technically both mine and Kelsey's but she's the only one who uses them. And then there's a beach towel (but I never go to the beach and if I do I'll use a normal towel. That thing doesn't dry well.)

When I was finished, this is all that was left:

:D Neatly gift-bagged for organization and aesthetic appeal. I had to keep a few -cough- necessary items, and then I also have towels and some Clorox wipes for quick cleaning stashed away. Then there's stuff like the replacement flosser heads and the one travel toothpaste I kept, and the razor comb with which I am going to cut my own hair from now on.

By the way, my shampoo-less shower is like:

That mirror does no good (for that matter, neither does the loofah) but whatever. There's a green tea facial scrub up in the corner for times of desperate need or if my friends come over and need some (shampoo I guess we'd have to borrow from another bathroom).

The sink has my supposedly natural deoderant (internet says it's fishy but it's at least better than a lot of stuff available), my teeth care, some soap, some decorations, and THREE HAIRBRUSHES?! You were starting to think I was minimalist? Heh.

The truth is, one hairbrush is my mom's round one that I've occasionally used to make my hair kind of poofy but now I just like because the bristles don't bend at all. The other two are mine. I use the purple and blue one most of the time, and the other one is a boar-bristle one that's SUPPOSED to be good for shampooless people like me, but my hair is so thick that the bristles just bend and smush my hair rather than brushing it. :\ I'll give it away one of these days.

Boring picture! My face towel. The main reason for this picture was the fact that I oh-so-cleverly strapped my watch to the towel bar so I have a water-resistant clock in the bathroom. It's useful if you're one of those people that gets lost in thought and ends up sitting in the bathroom for ages after your shower... and then wonder exactly how much time you've lost.

Lastly, here's my bathroom from the outside. It's pretty small, but not extremely so. My hamper actually takes up a lot of space and it's too big for one person whose family does laundry three times a week. Maybe I should change it out... I'm sure I have a smaller container around.

I'd go find inspiring, artistic pictures of bathrooms to inspire you, but I'm going to try my best to use mostly my own pictures for my blog. c:

So, if you just thought it was weird that I wanted to show off my bathroom, sorry. Hey, I didn't force you to read the post. :'D

Organization is fun.

So today I decided to start keeping my computer on my shelf where I can't open it without purposefully getting it out. I was tired of my computer being the center of my room (and my life!). I've also been setting fifteen minute timers, which I may have mentioned before. Even if I stop and restart the timer after fifteen minutes (like if I'm not done yet) I still have an idea of how much time has gone by.

Because I moved my computer, I had to move my charging cord. Which meant I had to move my iPod charging cord. Which meant I had to move my speakers. Which meant I had to--well, basically, I rearranged my room to have a focus on drawing, not the computer.

So now my desk is the brightest area, my back wall is still covered in pictures (but it's not in the background if I take pictures with my computer anymore... oh well, I can move my computer if I need to take a picture. It is a LAPTOP after all. c: ).

My bed is unmade, but I don't exactly care. After all, it has a Toad plushie, a Mori plushie, a Loki plushie, a (Captain) America plushie, and a stuffed elephant on it! I'm cozy~~~ All that's really missing are a Kaito KID plushie, a Rock Lee plushie, an Italy plushie, a Tenth (or Ninth) Doctor plushie, a Robin (Teen Titans version) plushie, a Pippin plushie, an Applejack plushie, UMMMMM okay maybe I can't have plushies of all my favorite characters because I'd drown in them.

That reminds me of the time when Phillip or Andrew was a baby and Justin and I put all the stuffed animals in his crib... we didn't realize that was dangerous. We thought we were being nice.

ANYWAY

My drawing table is not the best one (it's not very stable) but it works, I suppose. Off to the left side and slightly behind my filebox chair is my lamp (which is falling apart--the plastic shades are brittle and cracked from lightbulb heat...). Just plain on the left is my whiteboard with my to-do list and the contact information for my closest friends. And three cups of pencils, pens, sharpies, markers, etc.
On the right side of my desk is the trash can with three boxes and some other things piled on top of it to make a makeshift table sort of thing where I can set things like my sketchbook or my colored pencil tin--slanty drawing tables don't work well for setting things on. Heck, it's hard enough to keep a single piece of paper on that thing, without tape. On that makeshift table I have two of my dolls--for posing reference. Yeah... I don't have an artist mannequin. XD
Oh, and my Loki action figure is sitting on the bar that holds up the slanty part of the table... kinda menacing. o___o

Even farther behind on the left is this gigantic box that my mom's office chair came in. It's a good box! There's nothing inside, but that's where I can spread out my papers and notebooks. I'll cover up the box with something nicer looking later, but for now I just put my large piece of white foam board in front of it and pinned a picture to it.

Well, that's mostly what I've done.

My textbooks for this fall have been coming in the mail. It's kind of scary and intimidating. Well, I've been on the computer for half an hour, so I should be going.
Maybe you'll get pictures of my new organization tomorrow~

My future

I'm getting started on my life's dreams right now. No waiting around. I'm going to make art and I'm going to write and I'm going to design and perhaps organize. I don't need people to frown upon me if my art gets in the way of being prompt and always on time with my schoolwork... I know that's important,  but it's not the same. I don't enjoy school. "Well." you say. "You won't enjoy work. School is preparing you for work. You must..." No. Work won't be like school. I'm not going to sit with numbers and boring topics and turn in assignments about things I don't care about. If artistic pursuits don't quite bring in enough to pay the bills, I'll be working a part time job. But I'd rather get a part time job sweeping, bagging, moving, or gathering than calculating, standing still, filling out paperwork, or anything like that. "You just want a job you don't have to use your brain for." Wrong again. If I have to take a part time job to support myself (and it's probably pretty likely), I want one that is kinetic and keeps me moving but lets my mind roam free. I will be using my brain to think of things that others don't bother to.
If you don't let me have these dreams now I'll crumble and break and the zombies will get me.

Not happening.

Oh and tomorrow I want to participate in the One Day Without Shoes thing. Not because I particularly think that it will help anything, but because I want an excuse to not wear shoes and I'm going to the dentist so hopefully I can convince my mom. :D

My lovely room!

I just cleaned my room over a period of several days, and I think it looks nice. It's at its almost best right now. The floor isn't vacuumed, but whatever. All you hypothetical readers might not care too much, but this is for the curious. And for me. Because I read my blog too.
In case the pictures are confusing, my room is L-shaped and has no windows. Because of its one escape route in case of fire, it's not technically a bedroom. More like a storage area where I sleep and write and draw and play and do everything except look out a window. Also, the floor is black and I like cutting up paper. This leads to a strained relationship.

MY DOOR: This is where I put pictures and words. There are all sorts of things on here.

GENERAL VIEW: This is what you see when you first come in. The mirror will eventually be on the closet door, but I don't have any 3M strips at the moment.

THE SHELVES: My books, art supplies, and some school things live here. The top shelf is home to my small collection of dolls and other toys (I am a kid at heart). The next shelf down has a candle, two sticks which I brought home on two different occasions, a white box that hides my unsightly schoolwork, and a lovely piece of art by the talented Audrey. Next shelf down is my books and a few CD's, games, DVD's etc. Right underneath that is the art shelf, and the bottom one is my school supplies, reference notebooks, etc. To the left you can see my huge pile of borrowed books which I need to get cracking on. Below that are the speakers, and they play whatever I tell them to like obedient cucumbers.

THE CLOSET: This is mostly storage stuff. I guess there's not really much to explain. This is just about the only place in my room where I have 'junk', but I have to keep it somewhere.

THE WALL: This is a kind of art project I made. The three large matted things were made by me a long time ago using a copier machine and flowers/leaves (heh), and most of the rest is stuff other people drew for me or that I printed. Most of the drawn artwork is near the bottom left. Bethany drew the picture of me with purple jeans, Emma drew me in the TARDIS, and Peggy supplied the lovely Tangled coloring page right above the poster with the bokeh. I drew the doodle with the stop sign.

THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR: This is where you see my jackets and my jellyfish. Yup, that's about it.

THE OTHER WALL: Here we see a guitar case wearing a wig (I haven't even learned to play guitar yet, I just like having it sit there with purple hair), a magnet board with cosplay notes, a tiny lap desk sort of thing, and yeah. In the second picture you can see my computer and some blankets and also that long board thing that I decided to put stuff on so that it wasn't just left on the floor.

THE SLEEPING ALCOVE: Here we see the nice little nook that I get to fall asleep in every night. I like the colors of it very much.
Now that I've finished this blog post, I can go snooze. :3

By the way, the lack of window makes it really hard to get up. And I have to leave at nine thirty tomorrow for play practice. And it's one thirty now. I... don't think I'm getting eight hours tonight.
-sigh-
Goodnight.
